Care
Sessions for children
A pediatric session uses gentle tools over the skin. Nothing is inserted, and a parent stays throughout.
Japanese-style acupuncture has a long habit of treating children without needles. The tools are small, smooth and blunt: they are tapped, stroked or pressed lightly on the skin, in short passes. The session takes about 30 minutes, and your child sets the pace.
Who usually comes
Parents who want a gentle option alongside their pediatrician's care
Children who are tense, restless or slow to settle
Families who would like one visit for a parent and a child

A visit
What a visit is like, in order
- 01
Step 1: We talk
I talk with you first, with your child listening and joining in as they like.
- 02
Step 2: A look and a touch
I feel the pulse and the belly over clothes, and I watch how your child moves and breathes.
- 03
Step 3: The tools
A few gentle passes with smooth, blunt tools. Your child can sit, lie down or stay in your lap.
- 04
Step 4: A note for home
I tell you what I did. Sometimes there is a small thing to try at home, such as a warm hand on the belly.
Good to know
Before and after
What your child may feel
Most children feel a light tap or a little warmth. Some get sleepy afterward, and some get playful. A short session can be a long day for a small child, so keep the evening easy.
Tell me first
A fever or recent illness, an allergy to tape or metals, a bleeding disorder, or a child who is nervous about being touched. I adjust, or we wait.
How many sessions
I suggest a plan at the first session. It is a suggestion, not a promise, and results vary. You can stop at any time, and so can your child.
What it does not do, and when to see a doctor
It does not replace your child's doctor, vaccines or medicine, and I never advise stopping any of them. Call your child's doctor first for a fever in a baby, trouble breathing, a stiff neck with fever or a blow to the head. In an emergency, call 911.
Questions about a children's session?
Ask me before you book. I'm happy to talk with you first without your child present.
